During the following weeks the Directorate of Immigration must limit the issuance of residence permit cards because remaining stocks are running low. A new type of residence permit cards will be issued early next year.
Please note, that these limitations will not affect the issuance of residence permits.
In order to make the best use of the remaining cards, the Directorate will take the following measures until the new cards are ready for distribution:
- A residence permit card will not be issued to those who are granted a residence permit for less than 6 months.
- A new residence permit card will not be issued when individuals change the basis of their residence permit as long as they are in possession of a valid card.
- A new residence permit card will not be issued to individuals with a permanent residence permit.
- A new residence permit card will not be issued when a permit card is lost.
Individuals, who are granted a residence permit but do not get a permit card due to these measures, will receive a confirmation of the issuance of a permit and its duration stating that a card will not be issued.
If individuals who have not been issued a permit card need to travel abroad, they can be given a new residence permit card on presentation of travel records e.g. a flight ticket.
