New Act on Foreigners enters into force January 1st 2017

The Directorate of Immigration has since autumn been preparing the implementation of a new Act on Foreigners which enters into force on January 1st 2017. The act introduces several changes, i.e. concerning the conditions of certain residence permits, document requirements and applicants’ rights.
 
Guidelines and forms on the Directorate’s website will not have been fully updated upon the entry into force however all relevant information will be on the website by the end of January. Individuals who plan to submit a residence permit application after January 1st 2017 will need to follow closely the information on the website regarding the relevant permit. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause.
